In 2018, me and my husband almost left Eindhoven. It wasn’t because we were unhappy. But because my husband felt I will have better opportunities elsewhere being a graduate of English Literature and Culture. However, there was one thing that made us think if moving again would be a good idea or not. And that was the social life I had during my two years stay here. The second family I was able to have here gave me a stronger reason to give Eindhoven a second chance and it was all possible because of the Get in Touch (GiT) Program. A program that I had no idea how it was going to work but eventually landed up being my new journey in Eindhoven. 5 years later I completely understand why and how the TU/e plays a vital role in the life of both employees as well as spouses. Unhappy partner means an unhappy couple and that leads to moving back to their country or to another country. And starting all over again is difficult. So, in 2011, fortunately my predecessor (Carola Eijsenring) and Willem van Hoorn (TU/e) were on the same page. They gave Get in Touch Program a life and integrated it into the TU/e Welcome package. Spouses of TU/e employees are automatically a part of it without any worries. All we need to do is join the GiT. TU/e takes care of the rest. Though it started with the TU/e, of course everyone is welcome. More than 10 years of wonderful journey since then. Get in Touch Program even won the EMEA Award in 2014 for the Best Family Program. In September 2020, I promised to give GiT and its family the same care and love that I received and have been receiving since I first came to Eindhoven in 2016. Together as a GiT family we explore, we grow, we share, and we learn about the place, culture, and language.

GIT helped me in my early times in Netherlands especially in Eindhoven to get to know this lovely country and city as well as building social network (moreover it's pandemic, so having new friends had been rare opportunity). Joining GIT was one of the best decision I made when I moved to Netherland in 2020.

Through GiT, I, as an introvert person, am out of my comfort zone. I meet people face-to-face, talk and share stories with each other. GiT community really improves my social skill to connect with new friends from various countries. Thank you so much GiT!

GiT helped me find a stable ground in Eindhoven and connected me to people and places that have now become my community.

At GiT I met other women that like me had migrated to The Netherlands with their spouses in search of new opportunities, personal and professional. Some of them are still today very dear friends and are present in our lives. GiT also helped me move around to explore my career options and prepare to take the opportunity once it came. Most importantly, at GiT I had FUN knowing the Eindhoven and sharing with the girls!
